I watched 'what the health' on Netflix and that turned me into a vegan over night, lol. I gained 10 lbs from eating more carbs though. But exercise keeps me in check. And recently I read a fitness book that stated that some meat is good for growing bones so I'm cooking meat again for my 2 yr old – my husband is very happy about me cooking meat again, lol.

My family is rude about my weight gain but I just say to myself I am not fat, I have fat but I am not fat. Whatever negative connotations go with it. I am suffering with depression. 😢

Hi Julia! I have watched your videos since the beginning and I have always admired your compromise with being healthy and exercising I used to watch your videoa to find motivation. I understand what you are going through because even though your reason for gain weight is because of your health I have gained a lot of weight because of stress, anxiety and just not being motivated enough. But now that you are in your journey again I and motivated to do it also, like if u were my health and fitness buddy. I wish u the best in your weight loss journey. Please keep your videos up. 😊 I send u greetings from the caribbean island of Puerto Rico! 🌴😉

I've had Urticaria and Angioedema for many years. It goes into remission and then flares again – it's the worst feeling and I've had to go to work with eyes swollen shut or lips that are swollen – and not in a cute way! I'm sorry you're going through this as well. Auto immune diseases take their toll on a person's self esteem. Wishing you all the best !

What about pH balance? My family started drinking Dr. Willard's Water (concentrate has around 12-13%) to mix in with regular spring water. We've noticed a lot of positive changes, even using the concentration full strength topically- might be worth a try : )

    Hey Julia
I have really loved your videos for years. Since 2009 i think. Not gonna lecture you or anything, i just feel really sad on the way your opinions have been lately. You have inspired me so much over the years, on my self esteem, weight loss and confidence in beauty generally. I have always trusted your reviews and never been let down. I wanna say thank you for all your great work here! Even did several of your Halloween looks.
But some core opinions does matter to me. If we didn't have dairy in the older days, human race would have starved. Especially were I'm from, with three months of summer and the rest of the year snowing. I'm sorry i can't subscribe to you anymore. But i wish you all the best in your future to come! Its been great 🙂

I have to say I really like the way you talk about food and such though, you are sharing not lecturing which is so refreshing to see, I like seeing all the vegetarian meals and ideas you have though. I don't eat meat everyday, but I am in no way a vegetarian. I like to have options in my cooking and these fit fridays give me so many ideas that I wouldn't normally think of =)

You're inspiring because you're more relatable for me. I'm 5'11" and watching YouTubers who are 5'2" and their workout/nutrition just isn't relatable for me. Hi Julia, thank you for speaking up on such a difficult topic as health issues can be, and kudos for trying to find a way out of the situation instead of just succumbing to it. Having been suffering for 10 years from an autoimmune illness, I kinda understand where you're coming from, and having become a bit of an expert on autoimmunity in the process of trying to improve my quality of life, I felt the urge to leave this comment. I hope it makes some sense to you.

Many people, including medical professionals, tend to generalize and reach for one-size-fits-all solutions when it comes to personal health, especially in cases of "no cure" chronic illnesses. Sadly, most doctors also only think in terms of what medication they can ply you with to at least "put out the fire" while they assure you that there is no known cure for what you have. Since chronic urticaria is an autoimmune condition, doctors approach it as something that "you'll just have to live with" in the long term and never really bother to get at the root of what causes your body to attack itself (which is what happens in any autoimmune illness).

I would speculate that your weight gain isn't simply a direct result of the shift you've mentioned in your dietary habits (eating more carbs to compensate for meat) coupled with less exercise (although that certainly didn't help), but more of a result of your whole body suffering under a sustained autoimmune attack, which throws off your entire metabolism, adrenals and thyroid. This means that no matter how much you tweak your diet and exercise, you're not able to get any noticeable results until you address the cause of the autoimmune attack.

I've been following you here on YouTube for many years now, and remember the dengue fever episode you unfortunately went through a couple of years ago. That was a life-threatening attack which seriously undermined and weakened your immune system, exposing it to other pathogens, and that is where I would begin the search for the underlying cause of your urticaria.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, definitely don't give up on yourself, and don't settle for the "there's no cure" approach that the medical establishment is so fond of. I wish you the best of luck and will continue to follow your work here.

I have one question that is bugging me: How come you eat fish and are vegetarian? I'm confuse. I know that the definition differs from one country to another. My understanding was vegetarian is eating vegetables, cereals, usw.

I'm writing this comment as I watch the video because I don't want to miss anything.

    1. I love, love, love your hair and makeup. They are on point. Love it!
    2. Losing weight and gaining it back has been the story of my life. So, for anybody to judge when they haven't been there is just plain rude and cruel. Maintaining a healthy weight is hard. Kudos to you for going public and actually trying to do something about it. I myself, just started working out again and it feels good to go back on track.
    3. I stopped eating meat in august of last year myself and I'm glad to see other people trying it too. I ate meat again a few weeks ago and I can tell you that I'm ready to go back to my veganism/vegetarianism. I just feel better.
    4. I started a meal plan for vegans that worked wonders for me. Maybe checking out a meal plan for weight loss would really help you. I lost 5lbs when I first started being vegan, but, after sometime, I actually started gaining weight. I was just eating too much. Too many carbs and calories. Being a vegan/vegetarian we still have to watch what we eat and, unfortunately, carbs do go higher when in this type of diet. It takes a lot of research and trial and error to find out what works for your body but it is doable.
    5. I'm sure you know there are many vegan/vegetarian channels here on youtube that are so so helpful and you could get help from there.

I hope your health gets better. Kudos to you.

I'm also at that point at the moment and I'm feeling really bad because I'm hungry all day every day with a vegetarian diet. That is why I'm also just stopping that and going back to the low carbs and a bunch of meat and eggs because it just makes me happier and not hungry. I'm the type of people that love food and I will never be able to not eat something that I want to so it's very important for me to find the right quantity of food to eat (counting calories also does not work for me because I become obsessed =( and I start not eating) Thanks for the video. I love your makeup videos but I love theses even more because I think we have a similar organism =) Yes please the fridge tour and eating videos =D I'm excited to see. Just a thing you might want to try after your feeling better again is yoga because it can help a lot with your back. If you fortify the area it will hurt less (this helped with my boyfriend he has a hip/bone problem and he had a surgery to make it better but they couldn't do anything. So he started running and fortifying the muscles around that area and now he is much better. I'm just trying to share my opinion, but it might not work for you ) Wish you all the best and you will get there as I will too <3
