I highly recommend that anyone wanting to try a vegan keto diet watch this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7vj0DCuEcA Thomas is one of the foremost experts on all things keto and despite not being vegan himself recommends plant based proteins and fats for anyone vegan or not, good info I have to do another cycle soon and I think I am going to try the vegan route.

I have learned through years of careful analysis that it is much easier to weigh your food after you have eaten it.

I have been having to use keto cycles to keep my hypoglycemia in check (yes it works for that) I never once had dark rings under my eyes in fact this video is the first time I have ever heard of such. Of course the vast majority of my fats have been from avocados, seeds, nuts, and yes coconut oil so that very well may be an issue with lard consumption. My next cycle I might do full vegan just to see if it works, the only real changes that I would have to make is replacing my protein source, don't eat much meat on keto but I do eat the hell out of eggs. I cannot speak to any study but I loose a lot of weight on keto, last cycle I dropped over 20lbs in about a month without even restricting calories of course that can just be a side effect of getting the hypoglycemia in check. Just to be clear I NEVER EVER count carbs in non starchy vegetables. The majority of those carbs are fiber which is non-insulinogenic hence will not throw you out of ketosis hence the term "Net Carbs" aka we don't count the fiber even though it is technically a carbohydrate. The #1 mistake people make on keto is not getting their vegies especially dark leafy greens, eat as much of them as your digestive system will allow. Dr Berg recommends a minimum of 10 cups a day.

I lasted about five days on keto vegan. I think it really messed up my blood sugar/insulin. I went on it because of insulin resistance but OMG! I felt so awful! Now I'm just trying to refine my vegan diet to help with the insulin resistance and I feel like my brain fog from the keto is slowly lifting after two days of carbs. I really wish I had the money to see a naturopath because I'm feeling really lost as to what I can eat anymore. Along with the insulin resistance I was diagnosed with cancer (something I was certain I wouldn't face because I've been vegan for so long) so I badly want to make sure my diet is in check so that I recover quickly. About the only thing I feel certain about is that I don't want to give up being vegan and that I need a certain amount of carbs in order to function. I just wish I could find some help because I desperately want to get better and don't want to go on medications.

Is there truth to the videos that ex vegans post about nearly dying from this diet? I’m a month in and so far so good but I don’t want to do irreparable damage. Thanks great videos btw

I weigh my food, but that's because I like the consistency in how much of what I put in my food. And it's easier than pulling out a lot of measuring cups and spoons.

i guess keto affects everyone differently. Keto Connect's brains are suffering. I just watched a video where Matt stuck his fingers in his dogs nose to deprive the dog of air. The dog panicked and they laughed. Skip to 1:58 in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdhleZXx_gw

I almost never comment on video’s, but now I will do. What you see in the commentsection here, is people saying High carb is the only way to eat. I’m like just let people eat plantbased how they feel like. That you like eating food that contain carbs and feel great, that’s good, but maybe other people don’t. You don’t know how they are feeling. I know you love grains, fruits and vegetables, but let others enjoy their avocado’s, nutbutter, tofu, chiaseeds, berries and leafy greens.

    A “high carb” person.

I did a vegan keto diet for six months hardly any oils, I was relaying heavily on avocados and nuts particularly macademia nuts ( f*#expensive diet) I felt great the first month or two I was getting so much energy sometimes that it was overwhelming, but after four months I started to notice I wasn’t getting the same benefits I had at first when I went on vegan keto diet, my hair was dry and falling out, and I was tired after two hours of eating, very low energy, sleep was terrible, and I am an endurance athlete too ( I know that’s stupid to try this diet when I need carbs to run) but I read the book Primal Endurance by Mark Sisson and I wanted to run very long using my own fats, I gave the diet 6/7 months and my performance was the worst that ever has been. I stopped the diet and started eating more sweet potatoes and leafy greens, boy did do well, my pace on keto was 6:30 /km on sweet potatoes 5:15 / km that’s more than two minutes difference!
So yeah it was interesting to try it but I think is not healthy and not sustainable, very strict diet too.
