Traditional Irish Soda Bread | August Cooking |Saint Patrick’s Day | Vegetarian Recipe

Traditional Irish Soda Bread:

2 cups flour
1 cup buttermilk
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda

Mix dry ingredients. Slowly add buttermilk as you mix. Form a 1 in thick circle with the dough. Cut an X 1/2 in deep in the top. Bake at 425 F for 45 minutes. Best served warm with butter.

Enjoy!

Cut your celery, potatoes, and onions into 2 in. pieces. Salt and pepper them before you put them in the oven at 400F for about 20 min.. Add broth, cummin, and cooked veggies to pot. Bring to a boil reduce heat and add butter and milk. Let simmer for 30 min. blend is you like. Add toppings and enjoy.

    I like to make it starting with 3 cups flour and put it into a bread pan. The bread loaf pan man not be as traditional but it makes for nice sandwiches the next day. If you put it in a bag in a fridge while it is still warm, it slices into sandwich slices really nicely the next morning. MMMMMMMMMMMMM. August cookin!
