✿ Veganlovlie Recipes / Savory Oatmeal – Vegan : I’ve been making savoury oats for quite some time now and once you start making this savoury version, you might probably adopt it as a staple. And if you are among those who do not like oatmeal in the first place, then do try it with some seasonings and vegetables. You’d be surprised how tasty and different it can be. I like to throw in some beans for some added protein.

I am glad I can get ready toasted oatmeal which I cook most mornings . I like to add peanut butter and a drizzle of honey with some chopped fresh strawberries.
I shall try your idea of using vegetables and make it a savoury dish. Thank you for the brilliant idea.

+Char Covelesky I can't reply to your comment directly so hopefully the tagging should work. I haven't tried oats with miso the way you do it but it sounds wonderful. I will definitely give this a try next time, I love miso! Thanks for sharing your ideas with us. 🙂

I love savory oatmeal, I rarely eat it sweetened, great recipe and love to watch you cook and see different ways of doing things!  When I'm lazy, my favorite way to make breakfast is to start the night before and pour about 3/4 cup of rolled oats into a bowl, and add boiling water to make a  loose mix, and stir for a minute.  When it cools to warm, ( so I don't kill the probiotics in the miso) I add about a TBS of shiro miso dissolved in a little water, stir well and cover.  Leave it on the counter overnight, and the miso changes the oatmeal into a savory-sweet kind of yeasty tasting magic.  The microbes in the miso start digesting the oats, making them easier for me to digest, fills the oat with probitics, and makes them taste very delicious!  I never have done it, but I suppose I can add cooked veggies to it before eating, or even fruit if a sweet flavor is preferred.  Great idea, LOVE your recipes, videos and website!  Thanks!
