    Most people try to stab the pit and that's how they injure themselves. I've wedged a blade in literally thousands of avo pits and have never injured myself, and I'm a little bit reckless if I'm being honest. However, by and large it's not wise to cut something with your hand on the other side of it. I think it's actually best to use a spoon.
